We visited Paignton in June 2018 to try and do a business deal. The deal didn’t work but we got a short video of our impressions

Bigbury Beach is a glorious beach in Devon. It faces Burgh Island.  We visited on June 26 2018 – summer was in full swing.

Forde Abbey is in Devon. They have some amazing tapestries on display called the Mortlake Tapestries based on the Raphael Cartoon now in the V&A. The gardens are some of the best anywhere and the border that starts the video is the finest herbaceous border I have ever seen. Do visit if you can. The video was shot on June 16 2019.

We wandered across to Burgh Island from the beach and it was rather nice. Not only is the amazing hotel there but a short climb takes you to a great viewpoint. There were close-ups of gulls and a guy trying to teach his girlfriend to waterboard.

Then there is the Burgh Island Christmas song – it’s so catchy and it’s below.

Buckfast Abbey celebrates the power of a few dedicated men and you should visit it.

If you could wander around the fantastic house built in the arts and crafts style with an art nouveau interior built by the seriously rich man behind the Savoy Hotel and Gilbert and Sullivan operettas that would be great. If it had an amazing setting with stunning sea views and world class awesome gardens then that would be fantastic. The great news is that you can wander around this place and soak up the atmosphere and I’ve made the movie below to show you more.

Trebah Gardens
Trebah gardens in Cornwall in spring is one of the truly amazing Gardens of England. It is a lush valley with semi tropical planting leading down to the river Fal. It has the most amazing stream planting I have ever seen. When you eventually meander past the giant bamboos and the vast hydrangea planting, not forgetting the loch ness monster you arrive at a glorious shingle beach from where you can bathe in the crystal waters of the Fal which by September are warm enough to float for hours. Then you can enjoy your refreshments at the beachside cafe which is named after Donald Healey who once owned the place and created the iconic Austin Healey 3 litre sportscar – the big Healey. We went for 4 whole days in 2014. The movie below is a short homage.
